Você sabe o que é o Outubro Rosa?

O movimento popular internacionalmente conhecido como Outubro Rosa é comemorado em todo o mundo. O nome remete à cor do laço rosa que simboliza, mundialmente, a luta contra o câncer de mama e estimula a participação da população, empresas e entidades. Este movimento começou nos Estados Unidos, onde vários Estados tinham ações isoladas referente ao câncer de mama e ou mamografia no mês de outubro, posteriormente com a aprovação do Congresso Americano o mês de Outubro se tornou o mês nacional (americano) de prevenção do câncer de mama.

A história do Outubro Rosa remonta à última década do século 20, quando o laço cor-de-rosa, foi lançado pela Fundação Susan G. Komen for the Cure e distribuído aos participantes da primeira Corrida pela Cura, realizada em Nova York, em 1990 e, desde então, promovida anualmente na cidade (www.komen.org).

Em 1997, entidades das cidades de Yuba e Lodi nos Estados Unidos, começaram efetivamente a comemorar e fomentar ações voltadas a prevenção do câncer de mama, denominando como Outubro Rosa. Todas ações eram e são até hoje direcionadas a conscientização da prevenção pelo diagnóstico precoce. Para sensibilizar a população inicialmente as cidades se enfeitavam com os laços rosas, principalmente nos locais públicos, depois surgiram outras ações como corridas, desfile de modas com sobreviventes (de câncer de mama), partidas de boliche e etc. (www.pink-october.org).

A ação de iluminar de rosa monumentos, prédios públicos, pontes, teatros e etc. surgiu posteriormente, e não há uma informação oficial, de como, quando e onde foi efetuada a primeira iluminação. O importante é que foi uma forma prática para que o Outubro Rosa tivesse uma expansão cada vez mais abrangente para a população e que, principalmente, pudesse ser replicada em qualquer lugar, bastando apenas adequar a iluminação já existente.

A popularidade do Outubro Rosa alcançou o mundo de forma bonita, elegante e feminina, motivando e unindo diversos povos em em torno de tão nobre causa. Isso faz que a iluminação em rosa assuma importante papel, pois tornou-se uma leitura visual, compreendida em qualquer lugar no mundo

Em maio de 2008, o Instituto Neo Mama de Prevenção e Combate ao Câncer de Mama sediado em Santos-SP, em preparação para o Outubro Rosa, iluminou de rosa a Fortaleza da Barra em homenagem ao Dia das Mães e pelo Dia Estadual (São Paulo) de Prevenção ao Câncer de Mama comemorado todo terceiro domingo do mês de maio. Mas o principal objetivo era alertar para a causa do câncer de mama e incentivar as mulheres da região da Baixada Santista a participarem do mutirão de mamografias realizado pelo Governo do Estado de São Paulo. No estado de São Paulo todo ano são realizados 2(dois) mutirões de mamografia sendo, um em maio e o outro em novembro.

As várias reportagens de tv e jornal, com a repercussão da Fortaleza da Barra iluminada de rosa em maio de 2008, foram apresentadas no mesmo mês no “Course for the Cure” realizado pela ong americana Susan G. Komen, no Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein em São Paulo-SP.

LUZ DE ALERTA – A Fortaleza da Barra ganhou ontem uma iluminação de cor rosa, colocada pelo Instituto Neo Mama. O objetivo foi chamar a atenção da sociedade para o Dia Estadual de Prevenção ao Câncer de Mama (no próximo domingo) e homenagear as mães.

Em outubro de 2008, diversas entidades relacionadas ao câncer de mama iluminaram de rosa monumentos e prédios em suas respectivas cidades. Aos poucos o Brasil foi ficando iluminado em rosa em São Paulo-SP, Santos-SP, Rio de Janeiro-RJ, Porto Alegre-RS, Brasília-DF, Salvador-BA, Teresina-PI, Poços de Caldas-MG e outras cidades.

O Brasil é mundialmente conhecido pelo seu maior símbolo, a estatua do Cristo Redentor no Rio de Janeiro-RJ. E pela primeira vez, o Cristo Redentor ficou iluminado de rosa no Outubro Rosa.

Em maio de 2009, o Instituto Neo Mama de Prevenção e Combate ao Câncer de Mama, novamente iluminou de rosa a Fortaleza da Barra em homenagem ao Dia das Mães e pelo Dia Estadual (São Paulo) de Prevenção ao Câncer de Mama comemorado todo terceiro domingo do mês de maio. Mas o principal objetivo era alertar para a causa do câncer de mama e incentivar as mulheres da região da Baixada Santista a participarem do mutirão de mamografias realizado pelo Governo do Estado de São Paulo. 

Em outubro de 2009, se multiplicam as ações relativas ao Outubro Rosa em todas as partes do Brasil. Novamente as entidades relacionadas ao câncer de mama e empresas se unem para expandir a campanha.

Com uma visão estratégica o Instituto Neo Mama vai iluminar 2 (dois) locais em Santos-SP, a Fortaleza da Barra e Pinacoteca Benedicto Calixto do dia 23/10/2009 até o dia 02/11/2009. Esse período é em função de ficar próximo do Mutirão de Mamografias que será realizado pelo Governo do Estado de São Paulo no dia 14/11/2009. Como os locais iluminados ficam em frente à praia, os mesmos poderão ser vistos pelos turistas dos navios de cruzeiros e os do feriado prolongado de Finados onde aumenta o número de turistas.
